冬至是中国传统节日之一，其来历可以追溯到上古时期的夏历历法。在古代，人们观察到冬至日子越来越短，太阳高度越来越低，认为这是阴气逐渐升高的表现，于是就将冬至定为阴阳交接之日，也是阳气重新开始增长的日子。冬至也被视为家庭团圆的节日，人们在这一天会一家人聚在一起，吃汤圆、糯米饭等传统食品，感受温馨和谐的氛围。

Winter Solstice, or Dongzhi in Chinese, is one of the traditional festivals in China. Its origin can be traced back to the ancient Xia calendar system. In ancient times, people observed that the day of Winter Solstice was getting shorter and the sun was getting lower, and they believed that this was a sign of increasing Yin Qi. Therefore, Winter Solstice was designated as a day when Yin and Yang intersected, and it was also a day when Yang Qi began to grow again. Winter Solstice is also considered a family reunion festival, and people gather together with their families to eat traditional foods such as glutinous rice balls and sticky rice, to feel the warm and harmonious atmosphere.
