Unit5 Why do you like pandas?教学设计
Section A (1a-1c)

Teaching plan            
Ⅰ、Teaching Objects and Demands
1、Knowledge Objects
(1)Key Vocabulary
zoo animal panda tiger koala lion elephant giraffe cute lazy smart beautiful .
(2)Target Language
A: Why do you like pandas?
B: Because they’re very cute.
2、Ability Objects
(1)Train students’ listening ability.                          
(2)Train students’ communicative competence.
3.Moral Objects
Talk about students’ favorite animals, take care of animals and save the earth.
Ⅱ、Teaching Important Points
(1) Key words and expression
(2) Master the target language
(3) Be able to talk about the animals which you like or dislike and the reasons
Ⅲ、Teaching Difficult Points
(1)How to improve students’ listening ability.
(2)How to make a survey and give a report.

Listening  speaking  pair work   games  group work
Ⅴ、Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Greeting and Lead in
1、Greet with students as usual.
2、Lead in.
   The whole class shares a video.
T: What can you see in the video?
Ss: I can see tigers, koalas, pandas......
T: Do you like pandas?
Ss: Yes, I do
T: Why do you like pandas?
Ss: Because they are very cute.
Step 2 Presentation
   T: Look at the picture, what animal is it?
   Ss: It’s a panda .
   T: Do you like the pandas?
   Ss: Yes, I do
   T: Why do you like pandas?
   Ss: Because they’re very cute
Teacher writes down the words “panda , cute” and the sentences on the blackboard . Teaches students how to read and repeat them.
Show out the other words in this way.
Step3 Games
Teacher shows out a part of animal on the screen, students guess and say the animal together.
Step4 Finish 1a
look at the pictures and match the words with the animals in the pictures.
  Check the answers with students
Step5 Listening
Go through the instructions with the class. Teacher plays the tape , students listen to the tape and check the animals you hear in 1a.
Check the answers with the class.
Step6 Pair work
Talk about the animals you like or dislike and the reasons, you can use the description words: cute smart beautiful friendly interesting lazy scary              
A: What animals do you like?
B: I like koalas.
A: Why do you like koalas?
B: Because they’re interesting.
A: Ok, Let’s see the koalas first.
Give students two minutes to practice, after then choose some pairs to act out the dialogues.
Step 7 Survey and Report
Four students in a group, suppose one student is a reporter and asks the other students four questions. For example:
(1)What animals do you like? And why?
(2)What animals don’t you like? And why not?
Then, fill in the box and write a short passage.

Animals he/she dislikes

Lucy likes koalas because they’re cute and fun, but she doesn’t like tigers because they’re scary.....
At last, choose some reporters and give a report for everybody.
Step 8 Exercise
Show out some questions on the screen , give students some minutes to think about, after then, choose students to answer the questions .

Step 9 Summary
Ask students to talk about what they learnt today.
Step 10 Homework
1. Copy the words and review the target language.
2. Write a passage about your and your friends’ favorite pets and the reasons .
Step 11 Blackboard Design
