A. Warm-up
1. Greeting
T: Hello! What’s your name? What day is it today? How’s the weather today? How old are you? My birthday is on December 7th. When’s your birthday?
2. Sing a song. If you’re happy, clap your hands.
T: Are you happy now? If you’re happy, please smile.
T: I smile, because I’m happy. New Year has come. The Olympic is coming.
3.Look and say.
(1).Ask Ss to turn to the first page. Look at the picture and answer the questions.
What can you see in the picture? What are they doing? What holiday is it? What month is it?
(2).Take out the calendar to say out the 12 months.
B. Presentation
1. Present the new words.
(1). Point to the calendar.
T:Look, this is the first day of January. It’s January first. First means No.1.
Point to the first student of the row.
T:He is the first student of this row.
Ask the first students of the rows to read “first”.
(2). Show “second/third/fourth/fifth” in the same way. Count from“sixth”to “twelfth”. Tell Ss to add “th” after the numbers and pay attention to the pronunciation of “th”.
(3). Look and say.
Show some dates on the screen. Ask the Ss who hands up firstly to read them out.
2. Present the holidays.
(1).Show the time machine on the screen.
T: Do you want to get on the time machine to have a look?
Ss:Yeah!
Then show the dates and the holidays on the screen.
T: What date is it?
Ss: January first.
T:What holiday is it?
Ss: New Year ’s Day
Show “May Day/Children’s Day/National Day” in the same way.
(2).Look and match.
Show the dates and the holidays on the screen. Ask the Ss who hands up firstly to say out the holidays. Then ask and answer with Ss to do the matching game.
T: When’s May Day?
Ss: It’s on May first.
3. Present the difficult sentences.
(1). Look at the screen.
T: New Year’s Day has gone. The Women’s Day is coming. I want to buy some flowers for my mom. You’d better buy your mom some flowers. Let’s go to the flower shop first. Let’s see which flowers are perfect. How about these? They’re perfect. Now what should I say to my mom? Yes, Happy Women’s Day!
Then Ss read the main sentences following me.
(2). Listen, read and answer.
T: Let’s see what Donny wants to do for his mom.
Ss look, listen, point, and then answer my questions.
D. Practice
1.Ask Ss to work in groups of five to act out the dialog.
2. Show the pictures of the dialogs on the screen.
Ask Ss to look at the pictures. Listen to the tape and point at the dialogs. Then answer my questions:
Where are they?
Who’s that girl/woman? How does she look like?
Where’s she from?
3. Ss read the dialogs following me.
4. Ss work in pairs to act out the dialogs.
E. Wrap-up
1.Show some more holidays on the screen. Ask and answer with Ss.
