3.情感目标

a) 了解旅游的行为规范、旅游工具、旅游必需品及相关旅游注意事项。

b)了解生态旅游的概念和意义,帮助学生树立为人与自然和谐发展的环境而努力的意识。

II.Teaching material

本单元的中心话题是旅游,通过旅游日记的方法描述旅游见闻。这一单元分为“Warming up” “pre-reading” “reading” “comprehending” “learning about language” “using language ““summing up ”和“learning tips”。

1.1  WARMING UP让学生想象自己将前往某地旅行。要求他们选择路线,选择不同的交通方式及旅游所需的东西进行讨论,使学生了解旅行的必要手段和必备的知识物件。

1.2 PRE-READING两个问题主要引导学生向阅读部分过渡

1.3 READING “湄公河旅行游记”是游记六个部分的第一部分,讲述了毛坤和毛敏梦想沿湄公河做自行车旅行,并为之准备的过程。

1.4 COMPREHENDING通过回答问题,让学生填表格等练习加强学生对课文细节的进一步理解。

1.5 LEARNING ABOUT LANGUAGE讲述主要词汇及运用和主要语法项目(现在进行时表将来)。

1.6  USING LANGUAGE含四个方面的综合训练。            

1.7 SUMMING UP部分引导学生外出旅游时写旅游日记。

III.Teaching periods

           Period1       Warming up,

Period 2      pre-reading and the first reading.

Period 3&4    Reading, comprehending, language points.

        Period 5       Learning useful structures.

        Period 6       Using language,listening.

        Period 7       Reading and writing.   

V.Teaching plan



Period 1 Warming Up, Speaking and Writing

I Teaching aims:

1. To talk about traveling

2. To learn some new words

II  Teaching Important points:

Get Ss to talk about traveling and the transport.

III. Teaching aids:

A multi-media and other normal teaching tools.

V. Teaching steps:

Step 1  Have an introduction of the whole unit.

Step 2 Lead-in

T: We know the National Day is coming. And we have “the golden week” during that time. What do you think many people do on their holidays?

… plan to go out with their families

….travel to some places of interest

Then get Ss to discuss their travelling plan in pairs,adding some questions in Part 2, Warming up:

1. Do you like traveling?

2. Why do you like traveling? And why ?

3. Where are you going? …

4. How to prepare for your trip? ( decide the place to visit 、make a plan、find some useful information、take some necessary things , etc. )

Step 3 Discussion

Ask Ss to discuss in groups and make a list of the transport they know and tell the advantages and disadvantages of each form.

---- What do you have to consider before you decide which means of transportation you will use?

    cost / safety / comfort / quickness / convenience

---- If you are given a chance to travel around the world, what kind of transportations will you use and why?

Step 4  Pre-reading
1.            Look at the picture in page17.
---- what can you see in the picture? (A river and the golden sunshine and the beautiful scenery)
2.        The world has many great rivers. If you could travel down only one of them, which one would you choose? Why?
3.        What do you need to take with you if you are preparing for a bike trip along the Changjiang River?
( Look at the picture and tell the whole class which subject you think is the most useful and which one is the least useful. Why do you think so? ----pictures on page 55. Talking.)
( Key things the students will mention: camera, film, towel, waterproof matches, compass, backpack, torch, candles pocket knife, first aid kit, a map, water purifying tablets, camp.)

Step 5  Homework
1. Recite the new words
2. Write a tour journal according to the topic they discuss in class.
The second period Pre-reading& first reading
I. Teaching aims:
1.      To arose students’ interest in traveling.
2.      To read about Journey Down The Mekong
II. Teaching Important points:
Get Ss to learn different reading skills, especially the implied meanings of the passage.
III. Teaching difficult points:
Learn different reading skills for different reading purposes.

A multi-media and other normal teaching tools.

2.        Whatwas their dream?

Ask the Ss to read the text loud . Then discussion in details.

1. Intensive reading and explanation of the language points .
2.Comprehend the reading passage deeply and try to retell it.

II Teaching important points:
1. The differences between “persuade to do” and “try to persuade to do” and some other words.
2. dream的用法
III Teaching difficult points
强调句It is… that…
V Teaching aids: A multi-media and the blackboard.
VI Teaching procedures:   
Step1  Revision
     Review what was learned in the period before and try to get Ss to use key words to retell the journey.
Key words: Wang Wei,Wang Kun, finally, although, insist, change one’s mind, Mekong, River, begins… and enters…   

Step 2 Post –reading
1. Discussion in groups of four:
What is the main idea of the text?
The passage tells us a main idea that no success in life merely happens by describing my sister’s and my dream----taking a bike trip and preparations for the trip.
2. What can we learn from the text? (first show Ss some proverbs)
Life is just a series of trying to make your mind.
生活是由一系列下决心构成的。
Hitch your wagon to star.树雄心,壮大志。
Success belongs to the persevering胜利属于有毅力者。
No success in life merely happens.人生中没有什么成功是偶然得来的。

Step 3 Language points
1. Ever since middle school, my sister Wang Wei and I have dreamed about taking a great bike trip.
since, so far, up till now, by now, ever since, recently, lately, since last month/year, in/ for the past+一段时间等,常和现在完成时或完成进行时连用。
Eg. Since 1990, I have been living in Shanghai.
I have made great progress so far.
Since we met last night, I haven’t heard from her.
2. It was my sister who first had the idea to cycle along the Mekong River. (强调句)
3. Although she didn’t know the best way of getting to places, she insisted that she organize the trip properly. (虚拟语气句子)
insist: insist that clause
  a. “坚决主张/要求”,表示主张或看法,后接从句用虚拟语气,即should+V. 原形。Should可省略。
  b. “坚持说”,表示一个事实,后接的从句采用陈述语气,按需要选择时态。
Eg. Bob insisted that she( should) accept the invitation.
David insisted that he was right.
insist on sth/doing sth
4. Once she has made up her mind, nothing can change it.
Eg. Once an earthquake break out, don’t run out.
5. It becomes rapid as it passes through deep valleys, traveling western Yunnan Province.
as 引导的时间状语从句,现在分词短语作伴随状语。
as 可引导:时间状语从句=when
              原因状语从句=because
让步状语从句=though
方式状语从句:像...一样
Eg. As time is limited, let’s do the job quickly.
Wounded as she was, she tired her best to save another soldier.
We finished that job as you asked.
They walked home after school, singing and laughing.

6. Words and phrases
1).dream n.&v.
dream of /about sth
dream a ---dream 做---梦
dream +that 从句
1) 他梦想着有一天为自己工作, 没有老板.
He dreams of working for himself and not having a boss one day.
= He dreams that one day he will work for himself and not have a boss.
2) 我做梦也没想到他是个撒谎的人.      
I never dreamed him to be a liar.
2).persuade: 说服,劝说
persuade sb into doing sth= persuade sb to sth
persuade sb not to do sth= persuade sb out of doing sth

如果“劝说”不服, 不能直接用persuade, 而应用try to persuade或advise, 或者用persuade的否定式

eg: (persuade, manage, try, advice)

I will try my best to ______him to work for you.

3).finally: at last/ in the end: They won the march finally.

4) altitude

Eg. What is the altitude of the mountain?

at an altitude of…在……的海拔

5)care about关心爱护,对……感兴趣

Eg. people here are care about each other.

I don’t care about what others think but what you think.

6) care for喜欢,愿意,照顾

Eg. He is caring for his sick wife.

7) change one’s mind         make up one’s mind doing sth

8)      give in 让步 give off 发出     give up放弃 give out分发,耗尽



Homework

1.        Do the reading passage on page59.

2.        Finish the exercises on page 20.

The fifth period   Grammar

I. Teaching goals:

1. To discover and learn to use some useful words and expression

2. To learn about the present continuous tense for future actions.

II. Teaching important points:

the present tense for future use.

III. Teaching procedures   

Step 1. Review

Go over the reading passage briefly again.

Step2. Discovering useful structure.

Turn to page21 and finish exercises 2 and 3.

Step3. Grammar

现在进行时表示将来

当句子涉及确切的计划、明确的意图和为将来安排好的活动时, 现在进行时可用于表示将来。

1) come, go, stay, arrive, leave 等词的现在进行时经常用于表示将来确切的计划。

2) 表示交通方式、行程安排的动词,例如 fly, walk, ride, drive, take (a bus, a taxi)等的现在进行时也经常用于表示将来。

Step4 Exercises for consolidation.

1. Betty ________ (leave) for Guangzhou by plane at 3:00 this afternoon. Her brother Bob ________ (see) her off. It’s half past one now. They __________ (wait) for a taxi outside the school gate.

另外, 表示将来的动作或状态,还可用以下几种形式:

1) will / shall+动词原形

Eg. I shall be seventeen years old next month.

2) be going to+动词原形:表示即将发生的或最近打算进行的事。

Eg. We are going to have a meeting today.

3) be to+动词原形:表示按计划要发生的事或征求对方意见。

Eg. Are we to go on with this work?

4) be about to+动词原形,表示即将发生的动作,不与表示将来的时间状语连用,但可以与when从句连用     

Eg. I was about to go swimming when my guide shouted at me and told me not to do so.    我正要去游泳, 这时向导大声叫我不要去。

但是,be , have(拥有), own, know, remember, forget, see, hear, wish, love, want等表示状态,所有思维,感觉或情感的动词,一般不用现在进行时.

Homework

  1. Finish the exercises on page 27, Best English。  

   2. Translate

   1) 下个星期天我们将去度假。(have)

   2). 今天下午一位外宾将举行英语讲座。(give)

   3) 我们将于周五出发。(leave)

  4) 你们打算住到下周才离开吗?(stay)

   5) 我正要出门时,电话铃响了。(be about to do)

   6) 外宾们今晚到达北京。(arrive)

The sixth period

I.Teaching important points:

How to read and organize a travel.

What to do do before a trip.

II.Teaching difficult points:

How to get the implied meaning of a passage.

How to listen to the text.

III.Teaching aids: a tape recorder ,the blackboard and a multi-media..

V.Teaching procedures:

Step1. Revision.

Check the homework.

Step2. Pre-reading

Have you ever been to Tibet? Do you want to travel in travel in Tibet ?

Can you tell us something about Tibet?

Step3. First reading

Skim the passage and then decide the following statements true or false.

When they arrived in Tibet, it was winter then. ( F)

Wang wei was behind me as usual. ( F )

When we reached a valley, it became warmer. ( T )

After supper, we started to make camp. ( F )

There was almost no wind on that night. ( T )

Wang kun went to sleep and Wang Wei stayed awake. ( F )

Step 4  Second reading

How does Wang Kun feel about the trip now?

Exercises on page22

Step 5  Consolidation

Find the detailed information from the passage.

In the morning: we made camp…put up the tent and then eat

After supper: Wang Wei wanted to sleep but I stayed awake.

At midnight: The sky became clear

      The stars were bright

      There was only the sound of fire

Step6 Language points

1. Our legs were so heavy and cold that they felt like blocks of ice.

2. To climb the mountains was hard work but as we looked around us, we were surprised by the view.

不定式作主语, 谓语动词用单数, 可以用形式主语it.

e.g. To learn a foreign language is important for your future work.

       =It is important for your future work to learn a foreign language.

    Is it necessary to complete the design before National Day?

3. At this point we had to change our caps, coats, gloves and trousers for T-shirts and shorts.

get changed 换好衣服

change 可作名词 “零钱”讲

change A for B   用A换B

4. We will reach Dali in Yunnan Province soon, where our cousins Dao wei and Yu Hang will join us. We can hardly wait to see them!

sb. can’t wait for sth. /to do sth.

我们等不及想要常试一下了。

          We can’t wait to have a try.

          他们等不及想要看看那位歌手了。

          They can’t wait for a view of that singer.



Step7  Listening

Listen to the part3 : chatting with a girl and do the exercises on page23 1&2&3 。

Step8  Homework

1.Do the reading task on page59 (The end of our journey)

2.Translation of page 56。



               The seventh period

I. Teaching goals

Read with the Reading and Writing part.

Teach Ss how to write a short letter.

II. Teaching important points:

The language points of this leeson.

III. Teaching difficult points:

To get correct information in listening.

V. Teaching aids:

Projector, a tape recorder and the blackboard.

VI. Teaching procedures:   

Step 1 Writing

Read the short passage on page23 and find out the differences between a diary and a travel journal.

1.         Put thoughts
2.         Personal
3.         Diary just record the personal feelings
4.         Record how they feel very soon after things happen
Travel
1. Write about their travels
2. Not so personal can be shared with others
3. Have a different purpose
4. Record their experiences, ideas and after thoughts about what they have seen

Step 2 Introduce how to write a letter and then ask Ss to write the draft of the letter in the class.
Homework
1.Revise the whole unit and learn the language points by heart.
2.Finish the exercise for consolidation in Best English
