熟读课文,并整体理解课文

Teaching steps:
Step one  Presentation
1 listen to the tape and answer the questions
Who’s Jim?
What do Jim and Ben often do after school?
What’s Ben doing today?
What are Jim and Ben talking about?
What date is it today?
When’s Ben’s birthday?
What would Ben like as a birthday present?
What else would he like?
What would he like to watch at the party?
2 imitate
  Read after the recorder.
3 读课文,检查学生掌握情况
4 translate the text

Step two Consolidation
1 Have a match
   translate the dates:1.9, 1.13, 2.12, 2.6, 3.1, 3.14, 4.3, 4.7,       5.2,5.8,  6.11,6.21,  7.31,726,  8.12,8.24,  9.1,9.10,  10.2,10.15         12.10,12.11,  11.30,11.19
2 Read the text
3Make a dialogue and act it out.
What date is it today?
When’s your birthday?
What would you like as a birthday present?
What else would you like?
Step three  Homework
1 Listen to the tape for half an hour
2 Read the text five times at least.

Comments: This lesson is easy for the students and they can learn it by themselves. So in the class, the teacher only explains some difficulties. The students can gain the confidence and glad to study. Before the students learn how to express the date, the teacher help the students review the numbers from one to a hundred. We can let them count the numbers, play the game “Bingo”, and let them know the difference in the numbers, because the number is connected with the date.

Comments: When we let the students review the text, we can let them act out the dialogue, in the action, they review the new words and the phrases, the important drills. Then we can let them recite the new words and the phrases, express the drills.

There are listening part and writing part in the examination, the exercises in the listening part are a little difficult. The writing part’s exercises are more difficult than the exercises in the writing part. For example: translate the English into Chinese and translate the Chinese into English.
