本课的新年常用的短语贴近学生生活,课堂气氛活跃。
The second period
Revision
B1. Tim is showing his Chinese New Year photos to Koko. Read, look and write.
Presentation
1. Bring in greeting cards.
2. Show the greeting cards and revise the words flowers, fruit, money etc.
3. Write the date of the first day of Chinese New Year this year on the board. Ask the pupils how about Chinese New Year this year? What are you going to do? Remind them that when they talk about plans they should use going to.
4. Put a list of phrases from page 61 on the board. Point to one activity and ask individual pupils Are you going to …? Encourage them to answer in full sentences for this drill.
Practice
1. Point to the small pictures in the text and say These are Tim’s photos.
2. Ask the pupils to look at the first picture. Ask what is Tim going to do? Make sure that the pupils know they should write the correct verbs in the blanks.
3. Ask the pupils to work independently first and check their work together later. Then go over the answers in class.
4. Show Transparency. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette for the pupils to check answers.
B2. Bob and Candy are talking about what they are going to do at Chinese New Year. Read, write and act.
Presentation
Ask individual pupils to come to the front. Give a picture card to each of them. Then ask Are you going to …? If they are holding the corresponding card, prompt them to reply Yes, I am. If they aren’t, prompt them to reply No, I’m not.
Practice
1. Ask the pupils to look at the picture and finish the conversation by filling the blanks.
2. Show Transparency. Play the cassette and ask the pupils to listen to the conversation and check their own answers.
课后记
重新复习、练习和巩固了be going to的用法,还有它的一般疑问句和肯定回答、否定回答,学生都掌握得不错,不过单数第三人称还是有时会忘记。

B3. Listen and tick the things Pam and Ken are going to do.
1. Play the cassette. Ask the pupils to listen to the cassette and put a tick in the correct boxes to show what Pam and Ken are going to do.
2. Ask the pupils to read aloud their answers in complete sentences and then check the answers with the class.
C. Jenny is writing a letter to her friend in the UK. Listen and read.
1. Point to the top of Jenny’s letter where it says ‘Dear Chris’. Tell the pupils this is how we say hello when we write a letter in English. Ask the pupils who Chris might be. Point to the bottom of the letter where it says ‘Write to me soon.’ Tell the pupils this is one way we can say goodbye when writing a letter.
2. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette. Ask the pupils to follow along in their books.
3. Read the letter out loud to the pupils. Stop after each sentence or a group of sentences to ask questions about what I have read, e.g. Who is Jenny’s friend? What holiday is coming soon? Is Jenny going to clean the house, too?
4. Play the cassette again or ask more able pupils to take turns reading sections of the letter out loud to the class.
D. Read the letter again. Write the answers.
1. Ask the pupils to read the letter again. Tell them to read the questions and then to check in the story.
2. Ask the pupils to write answers to the questions in the blanks.
3. Check the answers with the pupils.

The fourth period

E. Say the sound and the words.
1. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette and ask the pupils to listen to the sound and the words.
2. Say the words slowly and clearly. Check that the pupils are saying the sound correctly.
3. Point to the pictures and check that the pupils can say the words.
4. Play the cassette again. Ask the pupils to listen to the poem and then circle the same letters with the same sound. Get the pupils to repeat the poem.
F. Make a Chinese New Year poster.
Tell the pupils to work in groups of four and do the activities as shown in their books.
G. Listen and sing.
1. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette for the pupils to listen to the song.
2. Play the cassette again and encourage the pupils to join in with the words.
H. Think about it!
Ask the pupils if they know where this famous clock tower is. Tell the pupils that the clock has big bells inside. Draw a picture of a bell on the board. Ask what the people are doing. (They are counting down from 5 to 0.) What do the pupils think will happen at 0? (The bell will ring.). What time of the year are the people waiting for? (New Year’s Day.) The answer is New Year’s Day.
