教材分析:
Beijing is bigger than Tianjin.设计的内容是比较两个事物的特征，让学生加强巩固比较级的用法，了解不规则比较级bigger。生活化的内容贴近学生生活实践，祖国的河流、山川、城市，让学生更热爱我们的祖国。
学情分析:
四年级的学生沉淀了一定的听、说、读、写英语技能，在第一单元中，我们已经学习了部分形容词的比较级及形容词比较级的运用。由于四年级的学生活泼，喜欢争强好胜，教师借助教具，设计多个游戏，引导学生积极投入课堂，学得扎实。
教学目标:
一、知识目标：
1、掌握单词：Mount Qomolangma, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace.
2、掌握句型 Beijing is bigger than Tianjin.
二、技能目标：
1．在语言知识中渗透听、说、读、写的技能；
2、能用所学句型比较和描述两个事物。
3、在竞赛、游戏中学习英语，培养学生初步的自我评价的能力。
三、思想教育点：
培养学生积极参与，激发和培养学生的兴趣，使学生树立自信心，培养学生乐于与他人合作的精神。
教学重点和难点:
教学重点：形容词的比较级及比较级的运用。
教学难点：能熟练运用比较级句型和描述两个事物。
教学过程
Step Ⅰ、Warm up
1. Greeting.
T: Good morning, boys and girls.
Ss: Good morning, Ms Pan.
T: How are you, boys and girls?
Ss: Fine, thank you. And you?
T: I am fine too.
2、Guessing game.
T: Look at Ms Pan. I will do some actions, guessing please.
Teacher helps students review the words we had learned before, lead into new words. Teacher divides students into four group this moment.
(tall , short , big , strong , long , walk , talk , sing , swim……)
T: Excellent! All the students do a good job. Give each group two stars.
设计意图：预热环节带领学生进入英语课堂，集中学生课堂注意力的效果。“猜一猜”游戏调动学生的积极性，复习旧知引入新知，学生在欢快的情绪中进入英语课堂。
Step Ⅱ、Presentation.
1、Learn the new words. Let Ss repeat the simple sentences.
⑴ Draw one big circle and one small circle on the board. Label the bigger one “A”and the smaller one “B”. Point to the bigger one and say：“A is bigger than B.” three to four times,then write the “bigger” on the blackboard. (Use the red chalk.)
⑵ Take out two colour pens, yellow colour pen is long,blue colour pen is short. Point to the yellow colour pen say：“Yellow colour pen is longer than the blue colour pen.” three to four times,then write the “longer” on the blackboard .(Use the red chalk.)
⑶ Draw two vertical lines.One line is high,other line is low. Point to the high line and say：“This line is higher than that line.”three to four times,then write the “higher” on the blackboard .(Use the red chalk.)
⑷ Ask one student to stand near me.Teacher says：“I am 25.How old are you?”Student says：“I am 10.”Teacher says：“I am older than *** ”. Teacher ask students to say：“Ms Pan is older than***”three to four times,then write the “older” on the blackboard .(Use the red chalk.)

⑸Teacher shows the cards. Play game.
T: When I show you these cards, read it loudly and clearly please. We will give the best group one star with one word. Ok?
Teacher helps students master the words. Prepare for the chant we will learn. Read these words again and again.

2、Teacher shows the map. Point to the places we will learn.
⑴Write the phrases on the blackboard ,make sure that the phrases and the words on the blackboard change into a new sentence :
The Changjiang River The Yellow River
Mount Qomolangma Mount Tai
The Great Wall The Summer Palace;
Beijing Tianjin.
⑵Point to the map and repeat these places.
T: Who want to act a teacher?Who will try?
“小老师”点地名学生重复念，念得不够好的地方师生共同及时纠错。
设计意图：单词和短语的新授过程中，我利用简笔画、图片、地图及实物教具辅助教学，帮助学生学习单词，认识课文中将出现的地名。“看谁读得最快最准”的游戏，让学生反复操练单词“为荣誉而战”，不知不觉中学生掌握单词，突破教学难点，单词的掌握不仅利于正文的学习也是为诗歌环节进行铺垫。
3、Learn the text.
⑴Play the tape.（Let the students find out the new words.）
T: Listen carefully at the first time. Which words you had heard?
Who will try to tell us ?

T：Good, give group# star.
⑵Read the text after tape. （twice）
T: Open your book and turn to page 20.Read after the tape.
Ss: ……
T：Read after Ms Pan.
⑶Read the text by yourselves.
T: Wonderful. Give each group two stars.
设计意图：听磁带、跟读磁带再跟老师读，这几个步骤让学生在听、模仿、读的技巧上都有所提高，突出学生的主体地位，教师扮演好学伴作用。鼓励全体学生并给予奖励，避免学生产生疲惫状态。
Step Ⅲ、Practice.
1、Pairwork.
T: Now,let’s work in groups. Make sentences as possible as you can.（师强调学生注意观察，运用形容词的比较级造句，及时给造句的小组奖励星星。）
T:师一手拿乒乓球另一手拿苹果，问学生通过观察可以说出什么句子？
S1：Pingpong is bigger than apple.
S2: Apple is smaller than pingpong.
师领读，重复句子。
T:师邀请一组学生上讲台，一高一矮，问学生“How old are you?”教师将学生回答年龄的数字贴到学生的衣服上。请同学们大胆造句。
S1：***is taller than***.
S2：***is shorter than***.
S3：***is older than***.
S4：***is younger than***.
2、把学生分成三人一组，轮流到讲台上表演。说出一个正确的句子可以得一颗星，要求各组学生充分利用身边的物品，用新学的知识来进行比较和造句。

设计意图：操练环节，学生在掌握好词汇的基础上，尝试运用比较级句型比较和描述两个事物，教师充分利用学生身边的实物进行教学，让学生将所学知识学以致用。在这个环节，允许学生模仿课文句子，坚持容错原则，培养学生共同学习的团结协作精神，用星星鼓励学生大胆参与。
2、Chant.
T: Play the tape.Watch and listen （close your mouth, just watch and listen）Llisten and repeat then perform.
T: Which group want to show the poem?
T: Let’s welcome group###.

设计意图：本节课诗歌强化本节课的知识，句型简单，学生经过听、跟读几个环节基本能将诗歌朗诵，最后的表演希望小组展示学习英语的能力，鼓励学生敢于秀出自己。
StepⅣ、Summary and assessment.
T: Let’s look at these stars, count it together.

T: Read the text and say the poem together.
设计意图：课堂小结，师生共同将本节课知识进行总结性的梳理。
StepⅤ、Homework.
Design the homework：Say the poem with your friends.
设计意图：课后作业的设计，推进学生在生活中相互监督学习，养成背诵诗歌的好习惯。作业不仅能培养学生学习英语的兴趣，同时也会增强他们学习英语的信心。
