It's really wonderful to learn that my work is so loved by my readers. I like reading and reading has become a part of my life. I also like chatting with my friends, because I can learn a lot form them.Reading is the best way to improve your understanding of the language, and understanding is the first step to learn a language. Also, reading is the main source（来源）of language materials. When printed materials are before you, you can read them with ease. You can get a lot of fun from books. This is the advantage of reading. What's more, reading will open windows to the world --- enrich your knowledge of the world, of cultures in other countries and in history.As for reading skills, my advice is as follows:·Be sure to read some "easy" books at first. Experts say that the chance a student will enjoy a book doubles when one chooses the correct level of books to read.·Don't be afraid to read for fun --- find the funniest books you can and make yourself laugh while reading.·Go to the library or surf the Internet when you have problems. Use an English-English dictionary instead of a pocket dictionary when learning English usages.·Try getting together with someone else from the class to go over the answers to the reading questions.·Make notes as you read. Our school will hold an English Cultural Festival, which will last a week from October 10 to October 16. A lot of parents will be invited to take part in our activities.

Each class should prepare many kinds of activities for the festival, such as a reading competition, wall-paper competition, singing competition and so on. The school will also hold three big events during the festival. They are:

·an opening ceremony with English plays on the evening of October 10 in the gym.

·an English lecture American History given by Mr David Smith on the afternoon of October 13 in the lecture hall.

3. happen v. take place; come out 发生

示例

How did the accident happen? 事故是怎么发生的？

用法点击

happen 还可以接动词不定式（happen to do），表示“碰巧”的意思。例如：I happened to meet my primary school teacher in the street. 我碰巧在街上遇见了我的小学老师。

辨析happen 和take place：

（1）两者都表示“发生”，happen表示偶然的没有预料到的事情的发生，而take place 表示必然发生或经过布置、策划后进行的事情。例如：An accident happened in that street. 那条街上发生了一起事故。Great changes took place last year in my hometown. 去年我的家乡发生了很大的变化。

（2）两者都是短暂动词，不能与表示一段时间的时间状语连用。如：This happened / took place a year ago.（不能用for one year）这是一年前发生的。

（3）表示某人发生了什么事情要用something happen (s) to somebody，而不用take place。例如：What happened to her? 她出什么事了？

UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object --- a general term for anything seen in the sky that cannot be explained or identified. There have been numerous alleged sightings of UFOs throughout history, and many people claim to have seen, photographed and sometimes even touched them. The most common shapes described are either plate-like (hence the name "flying saucer") or cigar-shaped. There is much disagreement about whether UFOs are really alien spaceships. Many UFO sightings and photographs have been proven to be mistakes (for example, people have taken photographs of "UFOs" which turned out to be military aircraft) or fakes. Nevertheless, a large amount of people still believe in aliens and UFOs.
