Do you like football? Why? Step 2 Pre-reading 1.Show students the two pictures of Activity1. Lead the students to describe themand present new words in sentences and teach them as well. eg:The blue team beat the red team because the red team was careless. 2.Have students guess: Look at the title- Training hard .Why they train hard? DidLi Daming’s team win last year? Step 3: While-reading 1.Scanning Askstudents to scan the passage and find out the main idea of it. 2.Skimming (1)Ask students to skim the passage and complete the table. T:We know Li Daming’s team trained hard this year. What did they do? Why? Readthe passage quickly again and complete the table in groups. (2)Call back the answers. 3.Careful reading. (1)Paragraph1&2: ①Choose the best answers T: Now, we know they train hard this year. Where andwhen do they train? Read Paragraph 1&2in pairs and choose the best answers tothe two questions. ②Let thestudents readParagraph 1&2 ingroups of four and find out difficulties. ③Solvethe difficulties. T:Why they lost to the other team last year? Let’s continue learning Paragraph 3. (2)Paragraph 3: ① Presentsome sentences to the students and ask them to write “T” or “F” also correctthe wrong sentences after reading Paragraph 3 . ② Aska student to be “a little teacher” to check the answers. ③Let one team students read Paragraph 3 and the other students listen carefullyto point out important points. ④ Solvethe difficulties. T:We know that it’s good to have many fans around when we’re playing the game. Sothey do! Do you know the reason? Read Paragraph4 and answer the question. (3) Paragraph 4: ① Letthe students read Paragraph4 and answer the question in pairs. ② Letthe students ask and answer in pairs to check their answers. ③ Aska group of six students to read paragraph 4. Let the other students listencarefully and find out difficulties. ④ Solvedifficulties. Tet’s read the letter together. Step 4: Post- reading 1.Retell. ① Let thestudents complete the passage with the words in the box in Activity 3. ② Call back theanswers from two students then read the short passage in the whole class . 2.Speaking Putthe words in the box into pairs with opposite meanings. Makesentences with the words. eg:He got up late yesterday, but he got up later this morning. Step 5 Summary 1. Get the students sum up the languagepoints. T: What have we learned today? Ss:…… 2.
