Whose...is this? 2.Make dialogues: Ask the students to make dialogues with partners using thethings they have, and try to use the sentences like these: Isthe …yours/hers/his? Whose...is this? Step 2Pre-reading Learn the new words and show the students alost and found note. Step 3 Reading 1.Scanning Askstudents to scan the passage and answer the question: Whatthings are there at the lost and found office in New York City? 2.Skimming Askstudents to skim the passage and answer the question: 1)When do people often lose things? 2)Why are there lost and found offices at airports and stations? 3)What do people do at the lost and found office? 4)What strange things are there at the New York City Lost and Found Office? Step 4Post-reading 1.Let the students fill in the blanks according to the passage.(Activity 3) 2.Let students read the lost and found notes and write notes for two more things. Step 5 Languagepoints 1. People often lose things when they’retravelling or when they’re in a hurry. in a hurry 意思是“匆匆忙忙”。 e.g.She write a letter in a hurry. 她匆匆忙忙地写了一封信。 (be)in no hurry意思是 “不急于；不忙于” e.g.She’s inno hurry to leave here. 她不急于离开这儿。 2.Hundreds of people come here every day. hundred是一个确数, 表示“一百”。当hundred前面有具体数字时, 要用单数形式, 但它后面跟of 时, 要用复数形式hundredsof，同时其前面不能再加具体数字。△thousand,million也有此类似的用法。 e.g.There are hundreds of mobile phones in the store. 商店里有成百上千的手机。 Thousandsof people work in the factory. 成百上千的人在这家工厂上班。 Step 6 Exercises Ⅰ.根据句意及汉语提示写出句中所缺单词。 1.This ________(照相机) isnow on sale for 19 dollars only 2.Are you going to America by boat or by ________(飞机)? 3.This tree is said to be one ________(千) years old 4.The boy often asks his teachers some ________(奇怪的) questions. 5.How long does it take to go to the airport by ________(出租车)?
