argue的用法：

　　argue 英[?ɑ:gju:] 美[?ɑ:rgju:]

　　argue的基本意思是“坚决主张；说服；争论；辩论”，作动词即可以作及物动词(vt.)也可以作不及物动词(vi.)。第三人称单数：argues 现在分词：arguing 过去式：argued 过去分词：argued。

　　1、指与人谈论他们不www.ienglishcn.com同意的事情而“争论，争吵”。

　　The committee is concerned about players' behaviour, especially arguing with referees.

　　委员会很关注运动员的行为,特别是与裁判争吵的行为。

　　They were still arguing; I could hear them down the road.

　　他们还在争吵;我在马路的那头都能听见他们的声音。

　　2、指别人不敢或不要和自已“争辩”。

　　Don't argue with me. 别和我争辩。

　　The children go to bed at 10.30. No one dares argue. 孩子们10点半上床睡觉。没有人敢说不。

　　3、指就某事或一些问题互相讨论、辩论。

　　They are arguing over foreign policy. 他们正就外交政策进行讨论。

　　The two of them sitting in their office were arguing this point.

　　他们两人坐在办公室里讨论这一点。

　　He was arguing with the King about the need to maintain the cavalry at full strength.

　　他在和国王讨论保留骑兵全部兵力的必要性。

　　4、表示“提出理由证明；表明；证明”

　　His lawyers are arguing that he is unfit to stand trial.

　　他的律师正在提出理由说明他不适合出庭受审。

　　It could be argued that the British are not aggressive enough.

　　可以说英国人不够强势。

　　5、表示提出理由“支持或反对”。

　　The report argues against tax increases. 报告提出理由反对提高税率。

　　I argued the case for an independent central bank. 我支持设立独立的中央银行。

　　6、指“推理，论证”。

　　I've argued deductively from the text. 我已依文字作过推理论证。

　　He argued persuasively, and was full of confidence. 他的论证很有说服力，且充满自信。

　　argue的名词形式是argument。例句：

　　There's a strong argument for lowering the price.

　　有充分理由要求降低价格。

　　The doctors have set out their arguments against the proposals.

　　医生们已经陈述了他们反对这些提案的理由。

　　1、argue about与argue on

　　argue about与argue on同义，都表示“为某事而争论”，但他们之间也有细微差别。当涉及非科学性，非严肃的问题时，一般使用argue about。在涉及科学性或严肃性的问题时，要使用argue on。argue with表示“同某人争论”。此外，argue over和argue against表示“申明反对”或“据理反对”。如：

　　Let’s not argue about money. 让我们别为钱争吵。  

　　The two men always argue over politics. 这两个人总在政治问题上争吵。  

　　It is on use to argue on suppositions. 为假设的问题进行争论是没有用处的。  

　　Listen! I am not going to argue with you. 听着!我不打算同你争论。  

　　He argued against the suggestion. 他申明反对这个提议。

　　2、argue for

　　表示的含义是“赞成;支持;论证”。例句：

　　But there are many people who argue for changing their jobs, they argue that change means progress.

　　但是许多人赞成换工作，他们辩解说改变就意味着进步。

　　3、argue over

　　表示的含义是“辩论某事，为…争论”。例句：

　　Let others argue over small things, but not you.

　　让别人去为小事情争论不休，而不是你。

　　3、argue against

　　表示的含义是“反对;据理反对;争辩”。例句：

　　It is very difficult to argue against its use. 想要反对使用维生素B，十分困难。

　　4、argue with

　　表示的含义是“争论;和…争吵”。例句：

　　You can actively argue with your mind. 你可以积极地和你的思想争论

　　argue用作及物动词：argue sth。意思是就某事争论。如：  

　　They argued the matter for hours. 对于这件事情他们争论了好几个小时。
