At the beginning of thelesson, the teacher guides students to sum up how to describe our hometown withthe help of a mind map. Q：How can we describe our hometown? 【设计意图】:通过四维导图，引导学生总结在描述家乡时，我们可以从哪些角度进行描述，导入本课话题，同时又激发学生头脑当中的词汇，为后面教学环境打下铺垫。 2. Revise Unit 1 and Unit 2 The teacher asks the students todescribe Shenzhen ,Cambridge and London ,according to the information in thetable. And then ask students : Which city do they like better,Cambridge and London? And why do theylike it? 【设计意图】:根据图表信息，转述让学生复述课文内容，激励学生对所学知识进行再次加工，充分调动学生参与课堂的积极性，复习了本模块词汇及话题,让学生感知语言的运用。 Step2 Practice ---语法：形容词比较级在具体语境中的运用 1. Pair work. The teacher gets the students tocompare the two pictures and then describe them with correct comparativeadjectives. 【设计意图】:通过图片对比，为学生创设真实的语言运用环境，使学生进一步掌握了形容词比较的用法。 2. Exercises. Now read the passage first, andthen complete the passage with the correct form of the words in brackets. In my home town there are twocinemas, the Grand Cinema and the Palace Cinema. The Grand Cinema is __________(old) and __________(small) than the Palace Cinema. It is also ________(warm)in the Grand Cinema. The Palace Cinema is usually ________(busy) than the GrandCinema and the tickets are ______________(cheap), too. 【设计意图】:在经过一系列口头输出之后，通过习题练习，让学生更好地掌握本模块的语法形容词比较级的应用。同时也为学生如何对两个地方进行比较提供素材。 3. Listening practice 1. Listen to the tape and answer the question. What cities are mentioned in thedialogue? 2. Listen to the tape and fill in the blanks. (1). New York is a(n) ______ and______ city than Washington D.C. (2). New York is more __________than any other city in the US. (3). Shanghai has a(n) ______population than Beijing. (4). Beijing is _______ thanShanghai. 【设计意图】通过听录音，获取主要信息，让学生从听觉上感知语言的运用，加深了对形容词比较运用的理解，为后面的语言运用环节做好了准备。 Step4 writing 1. pre-writing Show pictures of two places inDalian and get students talk about them . Qs: What places are they? Which place do you like better?And why? 2．While-writing First ,ask 2 or 3 students to sumup the reasons why they like People’s Square or Xinghai Square, and then getthem write down the reasons. 【设计意图】通过讨论，激励学生对所学知识进行再次加工转述，在图片的帮助下，先让学生对两个地方逐一进行口头对比，然后让学生以书面形式列出理由，通过此练习，已达到对将本模块所学的内容的表达以及适当地把形容词比较级运用到话题任务当中，为课后写作坐下铺垫。 课堂作业 Compare People’s Square andXinghai Square, which do you like better and why do you like it? Write apassage about it? 【设计意图】作业是课堂学习的延伸和巩固，是所学知识的反馈,让学生在作业布置中再次体会到形容词比较级在具体的语境中的运用。 教学反思
