本课是一节阅读课，通过让学生阅读一篇关于美国亚拉巴马州遭风暴袭击后人们互相帮助的故事，进一步体会过去进行时的用法，并学习一些居住场景中常用的词汇，同时也注重对青少年情感的教育和培养，让他们知道在灾害面前要更团结，更友善，更懂得互相帮助。
本课的设计思路如下：
第一步由话题导入How is the weather today? Have you ever seen (见过) a rainstorm? 结合情景学习重点生词。
第二步：读前预测，熟悉阅读策略；
第三步：略读、寻读实现与文本深层对话； The 1st reading:Skimming: Read and match the main ideas。The 2nd reading  Read the passage and answer the two questions：1.What was the weather like before the heavy rain started?
2.What was the neighborhood like after the storm?
第四步：精读足练  The 3rd reading: Read and fill in the clue.
第五步：各抒己见，“动笔”训练The 3rd reading: Complete the sentences using information from the passage.（3b）
第六步：“动笔”成果评与改，体验成功与快乐。

我的亮点：
1、                通过引导学生观察图片并进行启发性的提问，对学生理解并运用语言非常有帮助。
2、                注重阅读策略的培养，单词的学习注重结合情境，没有集中教授。
3、                视频导入形象生动，思维导图能让学生深入理解课文。
4、                 
我的不足：
1、时间安排需要调整，前松后紧了。
2、要给予学生独立思考的安静环境，不要干涉、包办。
3、合作学习小组讨论与合作较少。
