Teaching goals
1. Vocabulary
l        Words: Terrible, flu, medicine, suggestion, candy, brush, tooth, lie
l        Useful phrases: day and night, brush teeth, lie down, have the flu, feel like doing, had better, had better not, hot food, take medicine.
2. Target language
   I’m feeling terrible.
   How long have you been like this?
   You’d better take some medicine.
   I cough day and night.
   You should brush your teeth twice a day.
   You had better lie down and rest.
3. Language skills
  1. Talk about illnesses
  2. Use should, shouldn’t, had better, had better not to give suggestions..
Stage 1. Lead-in
1. The teacher greets the whole class.
2. Do a ditaction about the words, phrases, sentences in Section A.
Stage 2. Pre-listening
Step 1. Revison
Ask and answer to review Section A.  
Step 2. Presentation
      1. Present had better / had better not.
      2. Pair work after the example. (Present candy, brush, teeth, lie, lie down.)
Stage 3. While-listening
Step 1. Listen to 1a
1. Present suggestion, medicine.
2. Listen to 1a and choose the correct answers
3. Listen again and mark True or False.
Step 2. Reading
1. Listen and repeat.
2. Read 1a together.
3. Find out the key points.
4. Try to recite 1a.
5. Act out the dialog.
6. Number the sentences to make up a conversation.
Stage 4. Post-listening
Play a game.
Who will be the best doctor / patient / listener?
Stage 5. Summary
Sum up what we have learned today.
Stage 7. Homework
      Make a conversation between a doctor and a patient.
