8A Unit 4 Wild animals —— Reading(第一课时) 教学设计

设计思路

本课时Reading部分是本单元的重点话题,也是英语学习中的难点。此部分要求学生阅读一篇介绍大熊猫幼仔的早期生活的文章,通过阅读使学生了解大熊猫的成长过程及保护大熊猫的一些措施,增强保护野生动物的意识。针对文章的结构,可将文章分为三部分进行教学。文章第一部分用第一人称的口吻描述作者观察到的大熊猫幼仔的早期生活,文章的中间,叙事风格换成一种较为客观的且更具有说服力的语调,文章第三部分谈论保护大熊猫的大致措施。本课时通过对学生听、说、读、写的训练,达到阅读教学的目标。

教学目标

1.猜测、掌握新单词。

2.快速阅读文章,总体获取文章主题思想。

3.根据时间顺序,了解大熊猫的成长过程。

4.了解大熊猫的处境及保护大熊猫的一些措施。

5.增强保护野生动物的意识。

教学重点

1.猜测、掌握新单词。

教学难点

教学准备

学生准备:预习Reading部分新单词;阅读文章,了解文章大意、结构;收集有关大熊猫的信息和图片;完成B、C部分练习。

教师准备:课堂教学设计案;教学挂图;有关本课时教学的幻灯片;学生讨论材料、课堂达标练习等。

教学过程

Step 1  Revision

Ask: Do you like animals? What animals do you like best? And which ones would you like to have as pets?

Show some pictures of animals on page55 on the slides and have the class say out their names.






































Step 2  lead-in

Show some pictures of the panda(XingWang), asko you like it? Do you want to know sth more about it? Then say today let’s learn a Story of XingWang.















Step 3  Checking

Check homework.(预习练习PartB).

Step 4  Presentation

Task 1 skimming:

Let the Ss skim the context quickly and identify if the sentences are ture or false.(T or F) then check the answers.

(1) Xi Wang is the name of a baby giant panda. ( T )
(2)Baby giant pandas are very small when they were born.( T )

(3)They grow very quickly.( T )
(4)At 3 months , she was 10 kilos. ( F )

(5)Xi Wang had to look after herself when she was 10 months old. ( F )
(6) Hunters kill giant pandas and sell their fur. ( T )

Task 2  Listening for the information about the text.

Get the class to listen to the tape and try to find some information about Xi Wang in pairs. Then try to complete the following form.

Task 3  Exercise
1.Have the class finish the Ex. of Part C.
2.Check the answers together.
Task 4  Discussion
Read the report on giant pandas more carefully again and try to find out the problems with the giant pandas to survive in the wild.
1.  If hunters catch a giant panda, they will kill it for its fur.
2.  If farmers cut down trees and forests, giant pandas will have nowhere to live.
3.  Mother pandas often leave their baby pandas all by themselves, if people find the baby pandas alone, they will take them away because they think the baby pandas need help.
Task5 Discussion
How to protect giant pandas according to the report.
1.  Make giant panda reserves bigger.
2.  Build more reserves.
3.  Encourage farmers to leave the giant panda reserves.
Task 6  Have the class read the passage and fill in the suitable words to complete it.
Save giant pandas!
It is very  for giant pandas to i n the wild.
               catch them for their . Farmers cut down trees and   and the giant pandas have   to live. People take baby pandas  if their mothers them alone.So we must take the following to protect them: we should make giant panda  bigger and build more  reserves. We must farmers toleave the giant panda reserves.
Step 5  Production
Do some exercises (达标检测) and check them.

教学反思
阅读教学是英语教学中的难点,能否吸引学生参与到课堂是教学成败的关键。本课时所选用的文字材料前半部分较能吸引学生,而后半部分就没多大趣味了,所以本节课的一个关键就是在学生兴趣未尽之前让学生参与到下一环节中。本课时本着先学后教、合作探究、当堂达标的教学理念,以学生独立、合作完成任务为导线组织教学。在教学过程中多以兴趣引导、启发,但本课时的任务多、容量大,所以时间略显不足。
