Unit4  At a farm

Ⅰ.Background information

1.Duration:40 minutes

2.Class:Grade 4

3.Teaching material:  Unit 4  At a farm

   Module: Part B  43 Read and write

Ⅱ.Teaching contents :

1.Vocabulary:carrots,potatoes,green beans,animals,sheep,

              farm,those, hens,cows,vegetables.

2.Phrasesver there,on the farm,vegetable garden

3.Structure: These /Those are  _____________.

Ⅲ.Teaching objectives

1.Knowledge Objectives

(1)Master these words:garden,goats,eat,over there and pronounce them correctly.

(2)Understand structures :

“These /Those are  _____________.” ,  and use them orally.

(3)Read this text and answer some questions

2.Ability Objectives

(1)Read this text aloud and pronounce correctly

(2)Introduce the farm with they have learned sentences

(3)Copy write sentences “These /Those are  _____________.” in actual situation.

3.Emotion Objectives

(1) We should eat more vegetables because it’s good for our health.

(2) We should protect the animals because they are our good friends.

(3)Go outside and enjoy the nature

Ⅳ.Key points

  1.Importance: The pupils can understand the text with the help of the key words and sentences,then they can read and retell the text.

  2..Difficulty: Correctly use These are... And Those are... Sentence patterns in the context of writing and introduce the farm.

Step1 Greeting and review (5’)  

    T: Good morning boys and girls

    S:Good morning, Miss He.

    T:How are you today?

    S:I am fine.

T:Before our English class ,let’s check your answers.

   Now,take out your paper.

    S:OK

T:(Show the screen.and check the answers)

Look at the screen ,I will give you an example,you can do this like me.(将分类的单词,用鼠标拖入相应的框中)





T:Any volunteers?

    S s:Me,me,me...

   (The pupils take out their red pens,check their answers)

    T:Well done,are you finished?

S:Yes.

T:OK,Let’s come to the next one.



T:Can you write them?

S :Yes.

T:Good,look at the screen,what are they?

  Who can answer?Show me your hands.

(I will point at some words and let them say)

S s:Me,me,me.

  Tomatoes,potatoes,green beans,carrots and onions.

T:OK,you are right.Can you lead them to read words?

S s:Yes.

S s :Tomatoes,potatoes,green beans,carrots and onions.

S :Tomatoes,potatoes,green beans,carrots and onions.

T:Good job,now,look at my hands,and read after me:

  I love to eat potatoes and potatoes.

(I will write the sentences on the blackboard and make them read after me)

S :I love to eat potatoes and tomatoes.

T:I love to eat potatoes and tomatoes,how about you?

(Lead them read the word  “eat” )

S s :I love to eat ...and ...

T:Thank you ,we all know,vegetables are good for us,we should eat more of them.Are you clear?

S:Yes.

Step2 Lead -in (5’)  

T: Now, let’s watch a video.You can sing along with it.Are you ready?

S:OK

(Play the radio and listen to a song “old macdonald had a farm”. The teacher will lead the pupils to sing this song)



T:Just now,we enjoyed this song,do you like it?

S: Yes.

T: Let’s sing again.Are you ready?

S: OK.

T: Great ,What the song is about?

S:Farm.

Step3 Presentation(12’)

1.First reading 快速阅读,找到答案

(1)这是谁的农场?

T:OK,whose farm is it?Can you find the answer?

S:A.Mr.Macdonald’s

T:Good job,now, turn to your page 43,

let’s visit Mr.Macdonald’s farm.

S:OK.

学生欣赏歌曲,读课文并在文中找到答案所在的句子,

    解决Mike的介绍。

(2)在麦克唐纳先生的农场上你能看到那些蔬菜?

T: What vegetables can you see on Mr MacDonald’s farm? Please find and circle.

学生圈出蔬菜单词并读出所在句子。

通过此题解决图1 和图2 的课文内容。

S:Carrots,potatoes,tomatoes and  green beans.

(3)T:What about animals?

     S:Sheep and goats.

学生圈出动物单词并读出所在句子。

通过此题解决图3和图4的部分句子。

2. Second reading: 仔细阅读,回答问题。

Took at the picture ,what’s this?

S:Garden.

T:Excellent,This field plants many vegetables. These are potatoes. Those are carrots. So it’s a vegetable garden.

T:Read after me ,garden,garden,garden.

S:Garden,garden,garden.

T:Very well.

教授garden并提及句子This is a vegetable garden.

T:OK,tell me,How many sheep are there on the farm?

提示关键词是how many sheep

S:Ten.

To you see any goats?

What means “goats”?

S:山羊

T:Good.now,read after me ,

  goat,goat,goat.

S:Goat,goat,goat.

T: Do the goats love to eat carrots?

S:Yes,they do.

用这两题解决图3和图4剩下的句子。

Practice 1 (5mins)

3. Third reading

(1) Listen and repeat 提示注意语音语调

(2)Read aloud with your love of the farm.

学生自主练习之后找些学生进行展示并给与鼓励。

4. Retell the text

先领着学生一起练习再找学生单独展示并给鼓励。

Step4 Post-reading

(1)T: Now we are going to build our own farm. What should we have on the farm? I think we should have vegetables and fruits because they are good for our  health. Do you think of it?再次进行情感教育:蔬菜水果有益健康。

S:Yes,we do.

出示蔬菜图片,板书These are tomatoes. 边板书边提示学生书写注意事项。

T:We also need other animals, they are good friends. We should protect those animals.再次进行情感教育:热爱小动物。

出示动物图片,板书Those are cows.

学生先在空中跟老师写完之后再在自己的学习单上书写。老师随时纠正。

Step5 Progress

学生分小组,设计一个梦想中的农场。

之前学生准备好的的蔬菜和动物贴画在此时使用。

小组随喜好选择粘贴并用These are…\Those are…来写介绍。

老师给出备用词库,帮助学生完成书写。

学生活动时播放轻音乐。

找小组展示。

T: I love your design. And you’ll build it right now!

Look! Your farm is ready. Let’s have a look!

配着音乐播放美丽的农场照片,进行情感教育:大自然美丽又神秘。我们应该走到户外,享受自然.

Step 6 Consolidation(3mins)

I will lead the all students to sing a song “Old macdonald had a farm”

T:Boys and girls,let’s sing a song again.

S:We love it.

Ⅷ. Summary and homework(2’)

(I will summarizes the key points to the whole class. Then lead the pupils to take notes.)

T: OK, what have we learned today?

S:vegetables and animals

T: Anything else?

S:“These /Those are  _____________.”

T: Wonderful! Your homework is coming,

(1) Retell the text.

(2) Design your own farm and introduce it to your parents.

T: So much for today’s class.Thank you for all of you! You did a good job! Bye.

S: Goodbye, Miss He

You do we guess

When one student do the actions or imitate the cries of animals,for example,i will give them an example,“miao,miao,miao”.They can guess it’s a cat.Before the game,I will divide them in four groups,who can get the right answer,who can get a star.
