Unit 10 I’d like some noodles公开课教案
I. Teaching Contents: Unit 10 I’d like some noodles.
II. Analysis of the students
The students in Grade seven have a keen interest and enthusiasm in English
learning. They are lively, restless, and curious. They have a good imitation and
memories. They hope to get recognized and commended. And they like to
follow something new and like to talk about themselves and others’ interests
in food preference. They also care about other students’ life.
The topic in this unit is appropriate to their psychological characteristics.
Students can use knowledge to communicate freely after learning a term.  
But most students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities are not
strong. And some students are not interested in English. So my teaching
design is relatively simple and interesting. The aim is to attract students'
interests and participation.
III. Analysis of the Teaching Material
1. Status and function  
The topic of this unit is about food. The students will learn how to order food
or take-away.
In this unit, the students will be able to use “would like” to express their need
for food and learn how to ask others’ information and provide their personal
information during the process.
2. Teaching aims
(1) Knowledge objects     
a. To master how to order food or take-away;   
b. To master the modal verb “would” and “what” questions.
c. To master the usage of countable nouns and uncountable nouns.
(2) Ability objects   
a. To use “would like” to talk about the need for food.  
b. To improve students’ ability of communication and social practice.         
(3)  Sensibility objects:                 
Let the students experience the happiness of learning English, cultivate their
ability to do things and foster the spirit of cooperation in group activities.  
3. Teaching key points and difficult points
(1)Key words and target language and structures.
(2)To master the usage of countable nouns and uncountable nouns.
(3)To use “would like” to express their need for food and learn how
to order food.
IV. Target Language     
(1) What kind of noodles would you like?
I’d like beef and tomato noodles, please.
(2) What size bowl of noodles would you like?
I’d like a large / medium / small bowl of noodles.
(3) What is your address?
My address is…
V. Vocabulary     
large, noodles, beef, chicken, mutton, potatoes, cabbage, dumplings, porridge,
soup, green tea, orange juice, would like, address, kind, size, bowl.
VI. Teaching Time  
Six periods

The Period One (Section A 1 (1a-1c))
Teaching Aims
1. Knowledge Objects
(1) Function: To learn many kinds of foods and how to order them.
(2) Key Vocabulary: noodles, mutton, beef, cabbage, potato, special, would,
would like, yet
(3) Target Language:
① What would you like?
② I'm not sure yet. Are there any vegetables in the beef noodles?   
③ Yes, there are some tomatoes.
④ Ok, I’d like the beef noodles, please.
2. Ability Objects
To order food freely.
3. Moral Objects
To learn about some difference between different cultures.
Teaching Key Points
Words: noodles, mutton, beef, cabbage, potato, special, would, would like, yet
Target Language: -What would you like?
-I’d like…
-Are there any vegetables in the beef noodles?   
-Yes, there are some tomatoes.
Teaching Difficult Points
Countable nouns and uncountable nouns.

Listening and speaking method, groupwork.

Teaching Procedures
Step1 Warming-up
Enjoy a song about food and vegetables.
Step2 Leading in
1. Game: Who is the cleverest?
What are they doing?
Are they ….?
2. Ask and answer
Would you like to have a picnic this Sunday?
What kind of food/vegetables/meat/drink can we take for the picnic?
What kind of food/vegetables/meat/drink would you like?
Step3 Presentation
1. (Show some pictures of food on the big screen)
Present some new words and expressions to the Ss.
2. Ss learn the new words and expressions by themselves.
3. Work on 1a:
Read the words on the left and look at the pictures on the right. Write the letters
of the food on the line. Then check the answers.
Step4 Game (Guess the food.)
(Show some pictures of food on the big screen)
Let Ss guess what food it is.
Ss try to guess the food and learn the words.
Step5 Listening (1b)
T: Are you hungry? Let’s go to the Noodle House!
T: There are many kinds of noodles in the noodle house. What kind of noodles
would you like?
T: In the following conversation, one man is ordering some food. Now, let’s
listen to the tape, find out the right noodles the person orders.
Play the recording for the Ss to listen and check the answers.
Step6 Pair work
1. Present the conversation in 1a on the big screen and ask Ss to practice it.
2. Make their own conversations using the noodles in the picture.
3. Let some pairs act out their conversations.
Step7 Exercises
Group work: Ask and answer.
e.g.: A: What kind of food would you like?
B: I’d like some ….
Then have a report.
e.g.: Tom would like chicken and cabbage noodles. Anna would like beef and
tomato noodles.
Step8 Discussion
1. Which do you think is healthy food?
2. Which is junk food?
3. How to stay healthy?
Step9 Homework
Please make a bowl of noodles for your parents when you get home.
