Teaching Content: Module 8 Unit 1 Helen Keller
Teaching Objectives:
1、Words and Phrase: born child as later drew letter herself all over world mode
2、Sentences: Helen Keller became blind and deaf. She couldn’t see and she couldn’t hear.
Later she could read and write. She wrote a book about herself.
Teaching Properties: Tape-recorder, cards, pictures
Teaching Procedures:
A: Song: look up at the spaceship
B: Free talk: What did you do at the weekend?
Steps:
1.Warmer:
1),Greeting .
2)Ask and answer
What’s the weather like today?
What did you do yesterday?
Who was China’s first man in space?
How much time did he spend in space?.
3).The teacher show some pictures ,have the students make sentences with can/can’t.
Eg:I can ……/ Ican’t……
(复习以前学过的单词的同时,为本节课要学习的could /couldn’t做铺垫。)
2.Presentation:
. 1).出示几张自己小时候的照片并介绍
I was born in 1980. Can you guess what I could \ couldn’t do?
Ss: You could\couldn’t….
同时让学生谈论下自己小时候能做和不能做的事情
2). 出示一张海伦的图片,并让学生根据自己查阅的有关她的一些资料介绍她,并问同学们你们想知道海伦小时候的一些事情吗?今天让我们一起走进MODULE8 UNIT 1,走进海伦。
3).播放课文录音。第一遍让学生们边听边划出重点单词,如“born , world, all over…”可以请学生根据上下文猜单词的意思,并出示卡片学习新单词,板书单词。
4).再录音,让学生带两个问题听并试着找出答案。
Q1:What could Helen do?
Q2: What couldn’t Helen do?
这两个问题的答案正是本课的重点句,板书并让学生反复操练此句型。
5).老师对故事中的语言进行讲解。
6).听第三遍录音时让学生跟读,并让学生分组练习对话。然后叫几组学生分角色朗读课文。
(通过小组合作学习可减轻学生的恐惧心理,增强他们的自信心,激发学生学习的动力。)
3.Learn to say
1).Have the students read the example sentences, then the teacher do two sentences with the sentences.
a. Helen Keller was born in America in 1880.
b. Helen Keller became blind and deaf, She couldn’t see and she couldn’t hear.’
2).Have the students practice in pairs.
(此活动帮助学生不断巩固新词和新句。学生在此活动中运用所学语言进行交际,使难点进一步突破,而且学生的合作能力在活动中同时得到发展。)
4.Homework: Tell the story of Helen to your friends and parents.
Read and write the new words.
