也谈名词fish和people的复数形式

在讲解名词的单、复数变化形式时，有讲解说fish和people这两个名词的单、复数的形式相同。请注意：这种定义错了！现摘抄有关说明如下：

1、关于fish的复数

fish: (pl fish or fishes)1〔C〕cold-blooded animal living wholly in water and breathing through gills, with fins for swimming 鱼：catch a fish/two fishes/a lot offish 捉到一（两、许多）条鱼

fish（鱼）是fish（单数）的一般复数形式，但也可以用fishes，特别是指鱼的种类时：

You’ll see many kinds of fish(es) in the fish market.

在鱼市上你可以看到很多种鱼。（《朗文英语语法》外研社1991年版P86）


2、关于people的复数

people：n.〔U〕(collective,with pl v. Note that for one human being, it is preferable to use man, woman,boy, girl and not person, which, …)（集合名词，与复数动词连用。注意……）〔C〕（not collective）race, tribe, nations （非集合用法）种族，民族：the peoples of Asia 亚洲各民族；a brave and intelligent people 勇敢而有智慧的民族（《牛津现代高级英汉双解词典》1988年版P830）
