Abstract
Recently, a lot of grape seeds were found in the archaeological sites, dated about 5000 years age, located in Zhejiang province in the lower reaches of the yangtze River, indicated that grapes were used for food in Southern China have a long his- tory, not be more inferior than European grape history. To use grapes for fruit generally, was also recorded in historical docu- ments before European grape was introduced into China, These suggested that there may be the domestication history of home- land grape in China. Why had wild grapes in China not been domesticated like Europe to quality varieties for food and making wine? Whether could wild grapes in China be domesticated to cultivated grapes ? Those problems were discussed in the paper.
