Step 1 Leading in
1. Greetings & free talk .
2. Check the homework :I left my homework at home ,what should I do ? Share some students’ advice .
Step 2 While-task
SB Page 14 , 3a .
1. Scan this letter ,underline the problem .
First read the letter to the class or ask a student to read it to the class.After reading,ask students to circle any words or phrases that they don’t understand.
Then ask students to say what words or phrases they don’t understand.Write these words or phrases on the board.Then explain these words or phrases.
And then ask students to underline the problem.

Ask some students to read their letters to the class.

This activity provides writing practice using the target language.
Teaching Procedures:
Read the instructions.
Write your own letter in an advice column.Your problem can be real or imaginary.Read your letter to the class and ask for advice.
First ask students to say some problems they might write about.Write some key phrases on the board.This can help other students get some ideas to write about.
Give students examples.
I have a test on Friday and I want to go to the movies on Thursday night.
It’s my mother’s birthday tomorrow and I don’t have any money to buy her a present.
I had a terrible argument with my brother.
I got a bad grade in English.
Then ask students to write their letters on their own.Read their letters to the class and ask for advice.
But don’t make anyone read who doesn’t want to.
Step 5 4 Groupwork
This activity presents an opportunity for students to use the language of the unit to ask and offer advice.
First show some problems on the screen.
Problems
You left your homework at home.
Your best friend is more popular than you.
You lost your sports clothes
You don’t know where your ID card is.
You don’t want to have P.E. classes.
You parents always argue.
Then point to the dialogue.Ask three students to read it to the class.
Sa:My best friend is more popular than me.I want to be like him.What should I do?
Sb:You could be friendlier.
Sc:You should try to be funny.
Then ask students to work in groups.Choose one of the problems on the screen and give their advice.
Ask a few students to share the sample conversations.One student can pretend to have the problem and the other student can offer advice.
Have students decide which classmates have the best advice.

Today we’ve read a letter.And we knew what problems “Left Out”had.And also we helped and gave him some advice.
We’ve learnt to express what problems we have in our daily life and how to give advice.

Step Ⅰ
Greet the class as usual and check the homework.Ask students to read the new words first and then correct the pronunciation.Teach the new words and make sure each student can understand the meanings.

Section 1 Before You Read
1aFirst ask students to say their after-school activities.Then have students complete the boxes.
1. Encourage the students to think about life outside school hours. List them on the Bb.
2. Ask the students to use the list on the Bb to complete the two boxes labeled ‘I do’, and ‘I don’t do-‘. They are free to add any ore activities they do, or don’t currently.
3. Ask a few students to share what they have written.
Task 2.Teach the students about using a dictionary.
1. Explain that a dictionary can help students learn independently.They can learn new words, how to pronounce them, and how to use them correctly.
2. Let the students to look up the words in the box.
3. Have a brief memory quiz on all the words.
