Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist. He was born in Bonn in 1770 and showed an early talent for music. Despite his father's strict training, Beethoven began to develop his own style and gained popularity as a young musician.

In 1792, Beethoven moved to Vienna to study with Joseph Haydn, one of the great composers of the time. He quickly gained a reputation as a brilliant pianist and composer, and became known for his innovative style.

However, Beethoven faced many challenges throughout his life, including hearing loss which began in his twenties and eventually left him completely deaf. Despite this, he continued to compose and create some of his most famous works, including his Ninth Symphony and the Moonlight Sonata.
